Do not despise small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work beginning ... Zach. 4:10
I have had people laugh at me a number of times. It doesn’t bother me at all because I know what the word of God says about it.
When
you want to do something you have to start small and sometimes people will
laugh at you; you look like a joke! I have seen people start churches with few
members under tents on Sundays and it often looks funny. You are tempted to ask
yourself, ‘why don’t they quit and join some other church?’ Yet, the truth is
that that is how everything starts, small.
The
word of God warns us about this negative attitude. Everything in life starts
small. We were born small, Jesus came small; a group starts with one then two
before it gets to a thousand. This year some people are not doing what God has
laid on their hearts because they feel embarrassed with smallness.
God
has promised us in Job that ‘though they beginning was small, yet thy latter end
should greatly increase (8v7).
I
have seen graduates who wouldn’t start something small because they see their
mates in big jobs and will feel embarrassed. If we shall follow the word of God
our lives will be transformed.
Begin
that project today. Start that ministry, write that song, start that business
today! Bishop Oyedepo said when he started his ministry, he preached 2 people
for 2 years! The 2 members were very old and sometimes they will fall asleep while he preached! Most young men will quit but today God has honored him for his
obedience.
What is your experience with starting things small, kindly share with us.
