EXPOSITION ON 2 SAMUEL 6 by Claus
Subtitled WHEN MEN TOOK HIS GLORY TO THEMSELVES

God knows the power of gratitude and he asks us to make use of it

We are in the chapter 5 of 2nd Samuel and it is written ;
And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

A happy spirit and a cheerful countenance comes from a thankful heart. Yet we value the happiness because of the relaxation and joy we experience from it. Suffice to say that there is more to gratefulness that just a good feeling. The bible encourages us to be cheerful even in giving, the one area that it is hard.

David and his people carried the ark with singing and dancing. This connotes that we cannot carry the anointing or blessing of God with a bitter spirit, as if baptized with lemon juice. People quit ministry, good jobs, marriages and give up on great things because of seeing the negative always.
A GRATEFUL HEART LEADS TO APPRECIATION OF THE GOOD IN YOUR LIFE AND YOU DEVELOP A GREAT ATTITUDE TOWARDS YOURSELF AND WORK.
I wish I could paint everything clearly but let me break it down and see.
1. A thankful heart sees opportunities. You are in that business and complains a lot but a new person comes in and is excited, what does that tell you? ANYTHING YOU SEE OPPORTUNITY IN, HAS THE POTENTIAL OF BECOMING YOUR DREAM.
Once you are not thankful, your eyes are closed to God's blessings for you.

2. A grateful person has a great attitude. Someone said attitude determines your altitude. Bad attitude towards work, husband, wife, prayers, church, boss etc etc is because we are not thankful for them. This has negative repercussions, we have no choice but to be grateful.

3. Attitude affects work. Your work become poor in output when you are sloppy which comes from a horrible attitude which is the mother of a bitter and an ungrateful spirit. EVERY NEGATIVE SITUATION IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE.

How can we be grateful?
A. See it as a command, bible says 'God loves a cheerful spirit'. Reverse it and you will see God hates complains; remember what happened in the desert to Israel.

2. It helps to count your blessings. Pick a pen right now, start writing the 100 advantages that your present situations will bring to you. Write plenty. Your perceptions will change!

3. Have right eyes not jealous eyes.
Looking at some privilege people can make you feel sorry for yourself. Instead see things positively, if he is married then God did that for him so, God can and will do same for you.
Seeing the less privileged should make you thankful. Your life is somebody's prayer topic and 10years project. Some people will never be like you till they die.

I end with this quote
If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily." Gerald Good.
