One of my greatest troubles and worry used to be deciding on the genuineness of my prophecies or the voice of the Holy Spirit. When your Spirit is opened it is like a road, anybody can use it, thus, your own mind, demons and the Lord all can speak to you. Some days I would get it correct some days I would get it wrong. To avoid trouble I decided not to listen to the voice of the HoLy spirit at all but that one too I was loosing. I used to hear, "the person is at home, go to him" and when I got there he was no where to be found. Other times too I would be praying at the forest then I would hear, "live quickly, a heavy rain would commence soon" then I would say in my mind, "Lord are you saying all these many people praying in this forest don't know it's about to rain?" But surely while am in a car I wouldn't reach home before a very heavy rain begins to fall.
So how did I learn how to determine whether it was God I was hearing or other Spirits?
1. I had discernment in me, the voice of the lord came with a confirmation in my spirit that it is him. I just know that it is him without any outward reason and this sought of knowing is a backup assurance.
2. If the Lord speaks there is peace that goes with it. When am taking action based on it am not worried at all, there is some calmness in me. But if it is a wrong spirit I would always be vacillating, I would not be feeling okay in me.
3. Faith also helped me. There is some unusual faith in me when I hear the true voice of the Lord. Perhaps that is to give us grace to follow up with it. When am under the anointing satan, can't access me so I I flow freely.
4. Satan's words are very mean. You can see that this advise has the features of wickedness and mischief that goes with it. Apply scripture to your prophecies.
5. The Lord's words are calm and full of love. It has features of forgiveness, love, eyc. Here, you can use scripture to cross cheque to see if it is the word of the Lord.
7. His voice can also be a gift. Example, I can point to about 5 or 6 different voices which I know very well by experience after hearing the Lord for about 20years. One voice is very authoritative, another is just simply small and less heavy, another comes outwardly through the left or right ear ( I say that is Angel voice), another is just a simple impression or knowing in my spirit, another is also simple flashes of revelation which comes with short sentences of info, another also comes with a vision and all the meaning of it comes with the picture or video am seeing in my spirit etc etc.
8. When am on point, people start confirming my prophecy the moment I reach somewhere in-between, here I know I have hit home. For these many types, most times when the Lord calls you as a prophet you have plenty means but all from one source and you know them by experience.
