Exposition on 2 Samuel 6 by Claus
Subtitled WHEN MEN TOOK HIS GLORY TO THEMSELVES

What do we fear most in our service to God?

I know what it is, it is the fear of going through hardship. I have witnessed this in my life especially when I began preaching. The popular message been preached today is that if you serve God everything MUST be rosy. I didn't have it easy and when I questioned them I was given all manner of excuses, the chief among them is that it is my fault.

The reality is there for all of us to see. IF YOU WANT TO SERVE GOD GENUINELY, YOU SHALL SURELY GO THROUGH SOME HARDSHIP.
What excuse can you give for the sisters I know who would not submit to a relationship with rich married men and for that matter are going through untold hardships?
What excuse can you give for my fellow preacher who used to work in a very big company and was being paid well till God called him full time and never had it easy?

King David stripped himself for a short period to carry the Lord's glory. It's same with us, if you say you will walk with God the same fate awaits you.
Jesus went through it and so shall we. A whole God was borne in a manger and lived an ordinary life, he could have arrived from heaven with angels and the world would have bowed.
I hear many people wanting to establish great companies so that when they come into preaching they will not suffer. Funny. You are wasting precious time. If you get into the Lord's business you shall still 'go through the furnace of affliction'. Without this furnace he will not use you. We have to be baked!

Then David returned to bless his household. Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!
-2 Samuel 6:20

David's wife despised this nakedness. She didn't want her husband to go through any hardship for God. She wanted her husband to wear beautiful clothes and drive plush cars always. She wanted a husband who had all the respect of the society.
The thought against stripping oneself of ones glory got the woman barren. So I see lots of barren Christians and even preachers. Watch them preach and no power manifests! They are tied to all manner of work and don't have much time for prayer, even they don't have much time for God's.

Some of us the way we enjoy life, if we were to be in the days of the matyrs who were put in prisons, starved and burnt we wouldn't serve God at all. HOW CAN WE THINK WE CAN CARRY THE ARK OR GLORY OF GOD FOR FREE WITHOUT PAYING ANY PRICE?

We have to know that it's purpose is to bring the best out of us; EVERY SUFFERING YOU ARE GOING THROUGH TODAY BECAUSE OF YOUR OBEDIENCE IS FOR A SHORT WHILE. GOD WILL BLESS YOU.
David removed his chests for a short period. There is rest in God too.
