Responding to God on your own terms is a sin of the flesh
I spoke about the works of the flesh in the previous article but what am going to talk about here is much more subtle and serious. This thing defiles God's people in a very disguised manner; once you are guilty you are disqualified and cannot proceed to the next level.
What makes it not seen and swept under the carpet is that it may not take you to hell like the other sins of the flesh in Galatians 5:20.
I call this work of the flesh, 'kicking against God's will'. It happens when you are in a good relationship with God but go against his will. For instance, Moses was supposed to point at the rock with his staff but he struck it and he missed Canaan. David counted the people of Israel when God hadn't asked him to and about thirty thousand people were slain by the angel of death, General Naaman almost missed his miracle because he didn't want to heed the counsel of the prophet, king Saul sacrificed to God when it wasn't meant for him to do so and God decided never to let any of his defendants rule in Israel.
Let me bring this to our days. Many good christians are called but they want to establish their company first, they claim they don't want to suffer. Even if they get involved they are committed to their work more than their call. These groups of people are walking in the flesh and there is a verse in the bible that says that
For the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life are not from the father but from the world. And the world is passing away and its lusts, but the one who does the will of the father abides forever.
Matthew 4
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 And they STRAIGHTAWAY left their nets, and followed him.
We must heed his instructions STRAIGHT AWAY!
Because of enjoyment, prestige and material gain we aren't serving God as we should. What a shame! God Almighty is offering us an opportunity to serve Him and we are giving Him conditions. This is not Childs play. That fire, training, you are trying to avoid won't work because he will choose us 'from the furnace of afflictions'; we all must go through the valley of the shadow of death we are trying to avoid. If you won't go through it then he won't use you.
Ministry is not like business the way people think, there is more things involved !
Uzzah touched God's glory with his flesh and he paid dearly for it.
Lord we ask for mercy!
